Where to begin?? This trip was somewhat of a dream. Everything really is better in California: the weather, ocean, energy, people, EVERYTHING. I felt such a fresh wind of creativity, opportunity, and drive to do the things I love. Sometimes we get stuck in the daily routines of life and lose focus of what are dreams and aspiration in life really are. California has a way of refocusing things.
You know when you're on vacation and by the last day you're like, "OK, I'm ready to come home"? Well... I didn't have the feeling. I honestly did not want to leave. I knew I would miss the Pacific Ocean, the cliffs, Runyan Canyon, the excitement of Hollywood, and the culture of Venice. During those brief moments of euphoria in California, I felt like I could do and accomplish anything I wanted!
When I was around age 11 or 12 my sister and I went on a road trip with my dad to California. Just the three of us. I will never forget one my favorite parts of the trip. This was a 3-day drive, however, it took us closer to four days because our gray Bonneville broke down in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Anyway, my sister and I were so excited because we knew that my dad would let us listen to "bad" (anything not christian/gospel) music and drink Mountain Dew- two things my mother would have FORBID. Our anthem for this trip was the the 90's hip-hop song "California Love" (fitting title)
California gave me a feeling of nostalgia, sparked my creativity, and made me excited for what the future holds. Dream big and do what you love!
